Facebook acquired Instagram in April 2012, and this week introduced advertising to the photo-sharing platform. The acquisition is expected to grow Facebook’s revenue, and help Facebook maintain competitive as more and more internet activity become mobile-phone based. The online-advertising business sees a mere 0.1 percent click through rate. With 150 million Instagram members worldwide, many see Instagram as a leader in mobile advertising development.
